The Philippine Army (PA) clarified that it has received no reports of soldiers resigning from service following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who faces charges of Crimes Against Humanity.
The statement was issued in response to social media claims suggesting mass resignations within the military due to Duterte’s arrest.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Philippine Army Spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala confirmed that there is no verified report of soldier resignations.
Dema-ala emphasized that the Philippine Army is a professional organization composed of dedicated soldiers who remain focused on their sworn duties.
Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) also clarified that reports of mass resignations in support of the former president are unverified.
The AFP urged the public to be cautious and avoid spreading unverified information.
According to AFP Spokesperson Col. Francel Padilla, the military remains professional, united, and non-partisan.
The AFP remains committed to its mandate of defending the nation and the Filipino people.
