Woman Arrested for Oral Defamation After Dispute with In-Law

A 38-year-old woman was arrested for oral defamation after her in-law filed a complaint against her in Pinili, Ilocos Norte.

Pinili Municipal Police Station Chief P/Maj. Antonio Marzan identified the suspect as a resident of Sitio Central, Barangay Lumban-Bicbica.

Authorities arrested the woman following a warrant of arrest issued by Hon. Ligaya Valdez Sulicipan, Presiding Judge of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court, First Judicial Region, Badoc-Pinili, Ilocos Norte.

The suspect is facing a Slight Oral Defamation case under the Revised Penal Code, with bail set at ₱10,000 for temporary release.

The Philippine National Police in Pinili immediately released the suspect after she posted bail.

Meanwhile, Marzan revealed that it was the suspect’s in-law who filed the complaint last year.

He added that both parties initially attempted to settle the matter at the barangay level, but the issue remained unresolved, leading to the formal complaint against the suspect.
