The DND data breach denial was issued on Wednesday as the Department of National Defense refuted claims of a security breach over the weekend.

In a statement, DND spokesperson Assistant Secretary Arsenio Andolong clarified that contrary to reports, the agency did not detect any data breach during the said period.

He assured that their systems remain secure and fully operational.

Due to security concerns, the official did not provide additional details.

Despite the denial, the agency, along with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, is implementing cybersecurity measures to prevent future incidents.

Earlier, cybersecurity advocacy group Deep Web Konek reported that a supposed breach in the Philippine Army (PA) network had allegedly exposed sensitive personal and operational military data, just days after a cyberattack on the Philippine Navy’s system.

The hacking group identified behind the cyberattack was Philippine Exodus Security.

The PA had previously confirmed an attempt to illegally access its network but maintained that it was not a hacking incident.

Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala assured that no documents or confidential data were compromised in the reported breach.
