Vigan City Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Suspect Hospitalized

A deadly shooting at Lyric Building in Barangay VIII, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, claimed the lives of two individuals.

The victims were identified as Robert Dela Cruz Apanay, a 29-year-old barber from San Julian Sur, Vigan City, and a woman named Audrey.

The suspect was Jayson Caacbay Oriente, a 30-year-old resident of Barangay Poblacion, La Union.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Vigan, PLTCOL. Reynaldo Mendoza Jr. stated that the incident occurred when the victim approached the suspect’s table inside the establishment, where he was drinking. A disagreement ensued.

“Immunan a rimuar ti babai iti establisimiento ken naanawa met dagiti dua nga agriri iti uneg ngem idi makaruarda ket intuloyda pay laeng.”
(The woman initially left the establishment, and the two continued arguing inside. However, as they stepped outside, the altercation persisted.)

The victim allegedly attacked the suspect with a screwdriver and was assisted by his group, who also injured the suspect.

At this point, the suspect drew a firearm and fired multiple shots at the male victim, hitting various parts of his body. The woman was also hit by a stray bullet when the suspect discharged his weapon.

The male victim was declared dead on the spot, while the woman was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

The suspect, who sustained injuries from the attack, was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
