Motorcycle Rider Dies in Collision with Aluminum Van in Isabela

A 20-year-old student died on the spot while another was injured after their motorcycle collided with an aluminum van in Barangay Alibagu, Ilagan City, Isabela.

The fatality was identified as John Leuven Donato, 20, a student, while his back rider, Richard Novel Paguirigan, 17, also a student, sustained injuries. Both victims were residents of Barangay Dimagused, Dinapigue, Isabela.

The driver of the Isuzu aluminum van truck was identified as Jefferson Lucero, 39, a married driver from Barangay San Manuel, Naguilian, Isabela.

According to the Ilagan City Police Station, a concerned citizen reported the accident, prompting authorities to respond to the scene.

Initial investigations revealed that the victims were crossing the road toward Barangay Baligatan when the truck, traveling in the opposite direction, approached.

Upon reaching a downhill and curved section of the road, the motorcycle allegedly overshot its lane and veered into the truck’s path, resulting in a fatal crash.

The impact caused severe injuries to the motorcycle riders, who were immediately rushed by the DART 831 rescue team to Isabela Doctors General Hospital in Barangay Baligatan.

The truck driver was also taken to GFNDY Sr. Memorial Hospital in Barangay Calamagui 2nd, Ilagan City, while Donato was declared dead on arrival by his attending physician.
