17-Year-Old Student Dies in SUV-Motorcycle Collision

A student dies in an SUV-motorcycle collision in Barangay Alibagu, City of Ilagan, Isabela, after being hit by a vehicle driven by a police officer.

The 17-year-old victim was a resident of Barangay Sta. Isabel Norte, City of Ilagan, Isabela, while the SUV driver was identified as Pat. Franklyn John Laciste, 27, assigned to Camp Crame’s Intelligence Group and a resident of Barangay Tallungan, Reina Mercedes, Isabela.

According to the City of Ilagan Police Station, Laciste was driving along the national highway when his SUV veered into the opposite lane, colliding with the victim’s motorcycle.

Investigators found that Laciste lost control of the steering wheel upon reaching the accident site, causing him to crash into the motorcycle.

The impact of the collision inflicted severe injuries on the motorcycle driver, who was rushed to Isabela Doctors General Hospital (IDGH) by responding rescue personnel from DART 831.

Despite medical efforts, the attending physician declared the victim dead on arrival.

The police officer is currently in the custody of the PNP for further investigation and proper legal proceedings.
