A professor from Isabela secured the 31st rank in the Top 100 Scientists in the Philippines, according to the AD Scientific Index.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Cauayan, Professor Edward Panganiban of Isabela State University – Echague Campus admitted that he was surprised to see his name on the list.

“I didn’t know how I got included in the ranking, so I was shocked when I saw on social media that I was ranked 31st among the top 100 scientists in the country,” (Aniya, hindi niya alam kung papaano siya napabilang sa naturang talaan kaya nagulat na lamang siya nang makita niya sa social media na siya ay rank 31 sa top 100 scientist sa bansa.) he shared.

Upon learning the news, Panganiban researched the AD Scientific Index and discovered that it is an analysis system that evaluates academic performance based on research impact.

The index assesses how frequently research outputs are cited and measures the overall academic influence of researchers and universities.

Panganiban believes that his numerous published research works contributed to his inclusion in the rankings.

His research covers fields such as Smart Agriculture, Urban Water, and Crop Management, among others.

He began his research career in 2016 after receiving a scholarship from CHED to pursue a Doctorate in Electronics Engineering, which he continued at Isabela State University.

Although he is satisfied with the privileges and support provided by ISU, he remains open to collaborations that could expand his knowledge and strengthen the impact of his research.

Currently, he collaborates with researchers from various universities in the Philippines and abroad to explore different community programs and solutions.

Being recognized as one of the Top 100 Scientists in the Philippines serves as a major inspiration for him to continue his research advocacy in support of students and communities.

As a researcher and professor, he encourages aspiring scientists to aim not only for personal success but to use their expertise for the benefit of others.
