Family of Five Killed in Misamis Oriental Road Crash

Misamis Oriental road crash claimed the lives of a family of five after their motorcycle collided with a truck and a sedan in Initao, authorities confirmed.

Police have taken into custody the driver of the truck involved in the fatal accident, which occurred at Purok Matinabangon, Barangay Gimangpang, Initao, Misamis Oriental.

According to Police Investigator PCpl Ricky Alahon Jr., the motorcycle was heading toward Iligan City when it attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided head-on with an Isuzu wing van truck traveling toward Cagayan de Oro City.

Following the collision, the wing van truck was then struck by a Honda Civic sedan coming from Tubod, Iligan City.

Authorities reported that the victims had attended a party in Alubijid, Misamis Oriental, and were on their way home to Dalamas, Iligan City, when the crash occurred.

Emergency responders rushed the victims—a father, his wife, and their three children—to the hospital, but they were declared dead on arrival.

The truck driver is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and damage to property.
