Teacher to File Charges After Being Shot by Policeman Husband

A teacher in Negros Occidental is determined to file charges against her policeman husband after he shot her inside their home in Barangay Ayungon, Valladolid, on February 11, 2025.

Police Captain Bonifacio Galvez Jr., Deputy Chief of Police of Valladolid Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Alias Lauerece, 37, a teacher, while the suspect is her husband, Police Corporal Alias Jomie, 33, assigned to the Malay Municipal Police Station under the Aklan Police Provincial Office.

According to Galvez, at around 11:20 PM on Tuesday, Alias Jomie was drinking with his father-in-law before the incident occurred.

Alias Lauerece stated that after her husband entered their bedroom to sleep, he suddenly got up and retrieved his issued firearm.

She turned on the lights and saw him pointing the gun at her.

As she attempted to escape and lock the door, Alias Jomie fired the gun, grazing her arm.

She was rushed to Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Alias Jomie is currently in police custody at the Valladolid Municipal Police Station.

The victim is now determined to file a case of frustrated parricide against her husband.

The couple has two children, a 13-year-old and a newborn baby.
