25 More Lawmakers Join Impeachment Complaint Against VP Sara Duterte

Impeachment Complaint Against VP Sara gains momentum as 25 additional lawmakers have joined as complainants, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco confirmed.

In a statement, Velasco said the lawmakers have submitted their verification forms to formally support the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Among the new complainants are members of the LAKAS-CMD Party, including Biñan Rep. Marlyn “Len” Alonte, Cagayan Rep. Ramon Nolasco Jr., Isabela Rep. Tonypet Albano, and Lanao del Norte Rep. Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo.

Also joining are Leyte Rep. Carl Nicolas Cari, Masbate Reps. Richard Kho, Olga “Ara” Kho, and Wilton Kho, Negros Occidental Rep. Emilio Bernardino Yulo, Quirino Rep. Midy Cua, Sultan Kudarat Rep. Princess Rihan M. Sakaluran, and Pangasinan Rep. Ramon Guico Jr.

Other lawmakers backing the complaint include Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, Pangasinan Rep. Arthur Celeste (Nacionalista Party), Cavite Rep. Adrian Jay Advincula (National Unity Party), and Tarlac Reps. Noel “Bong” Rivera (Nationalist People’s Coalition) and Christian Tell Yap (Sama-Sama Tarlac).

Oriental Mindoro Rep. Alfonso Umali Jr. (Liberal Party), Ako Bisaya Rep. Sonny Lagon, GP Rep. Jose Gay Padiernos, Ako Ilocano Ako (AIA) Rep. Richelle Singson, Kabayan Rep. Ron Salo, Sagip Rep. Caroline Tanchay, Abono Rep. Robert Raymund Estrella, and ACT-CIS Rep. Edvic Yap have also signed on.

Velasco explained that these lawmakers were unable to attend the initial oath-taking and verification process due to other commitments.

However, they submitted their verifications to the House to formalize their support for the impeachment proceedings.

If the Senate Impeachment Court allows their inclusion, the total number of signatories will reach 240, representing nearly 80 percent of the 306-member House of Representatives.

A conviction in the impeachment trial would result in VP Duterte’s removal from office and a lifetime ban from holding any government position.
