Former Department of Health Secretary and current Iloilo 1st District Representative Janette Garin faces a new complaint related to deaths allegedly linked to the Dengvaxia vaccine administered during the administration of former President Benigno Aquino III.

Four complainants filed a case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against Garin and former government officials.

They were also accused of violating the Anti-Torture Act of 2009, the Consumer Act of the Philippines, and the Philippine Pharmacy Act.

This new complaint comes just a day after the Department of Justice (DOJ) dismissed 19 counts of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide previously filed against Garin and others.

In response, Rep. Garin stated that her team would wait for a copy of the new complaint, which she suggested might be based on the same claims and a fake autopsy report.

The Dengvaxia controversy erupted under the Aquino administration when Garin, then Health Secretary, spearheaded an immunization program in schools using the Dengvaxia vaccine, which was later linked to reports of child fatalities.
