House Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe has called on the residents of Davao to remain calm and composed amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding the attempted arrest of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Quiboloy is facing charges of child abuse, sexual abuse, and qualified human trafficking.

Dalipe emphasized that not all Davaoeños support or condone the actions of Quiboloy and his followers.

He urged government officials, including Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte and Congressman Paolo Duterte, not to protect Quiboloy, who is currently wanted by authorities.

Dalipe also encouraged local officials to assist law enforcement in ensuring Quiboloy’s surrender.

Apollo Quiboloy, a controversial religious leader and founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), has been a prominent figure in Davao City and is known for his close ties with the Duterte family.

However, his reputation has been marred by serious allegations.

In November 2021, Quiboloy was indicted in the United States on charges including child sex trafficking, sexual abuse, and fraud.

The U.S. Department of Justice alleges that Quiboloy and his associates recruited young women, referred to as “pastorals,” under the guise of religious work, but who were then subjected to sexual abuse.

Quiboloy, who claims to be the “Appointed Son of God,” has denied all allegations against him. Despite his indictment, he remains a powerful figure in the Philippines, with significant influence in Davao City.

His legal battles have garnered international attention, and the U.S. government has sought his extradition to face charges.

The case has sparked a debate in the Philippines, particularly in Davao, where Quiboloy has a strong following, with some residents expressing support for him, while others are vocal in their opposition.
