According to PCapt. Noralyn Andal, spokesperson for the City of Ilagan Police Station, the incident occurred during a drinking session involving the suspect, the victim, and two other men.

An argument reportedly broke out between Uy and Terrenal during the gathering, prompting Uy to leave the scene.

PCapt. Andal clarified that this is the first time Uy has been involved in such an incident and confirmed that the shooting was not election-related.
