INC National Rally for Peace Draws 1.5 Million, Remains Peaceful – MPD

MANILA — The “National Rally for Peace” organized by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) at the Quirino Grandstand on Monday, January 13, has remained peaceful, according to the Manila Police District (MPD), despite a swelling crowd estimated at 1.5 million ahead of the program’s start.

As of noon, the MPD reported no untoward incidents, with police officers actively patrolling the area to ensure a smooth and orderly assembly.

“There have been no reported incidents so far. Police are continuously patrolling the area while the program has not yet started,” the MPD said.

The program is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., with authorities expecting the crowd to double by then.

SAFETY AND SUPPORT MEASURES
The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) held an operational briefing Monday morning, coordinating efforts with other agencies to ensure the safety and security of attendees.

To address potential health emergencies, the DRRMO has deployed ambulances and set up a medical tent near the event site.

The INC has also taken proactive measures by providing portalets, satellite kitchens, and charging stations around the Quirino Grandstand.

Delegates can also access temporary camps set up at Iglesia Ni Cristo compounds in Quiapo, Binondo, and Tondo.

CALL FOR CLEANLINESS
The Manila City government has reminded attendees to dispose of their garbage properly and to help maintain cleanliness throughout the event.

The “National Rally for Peace” is expected to continue drawing large numbers as the day progresses.
