THE State Weather Bureau announced on Tuesday, Jan. 7, that most parts of the country will enjoy generally fair weather in the coming days. However, isolated rain showers may still occur in certain areas.

The agency confirmed that no low-pressure areas or tropical cyclones are anticipated to form within or near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the short term.

The northeast monsoon, or amihan, will continue to influence Northern and Central Luzon over the next 24 hours, bringing cloudy skies with light to moderate rains, particularly in Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora Province.

Meanwhile, the shear line—a weather phenomenon caused by the collision of cold amihan winds with warm easterly winds—will trigger scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms in Quezon Province.

The weather agency cautioned residents affected by the amihan and shear line to remain alert for potential flash floods and landslides due to accumulated rainfall.

In Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, and the rest of Central Luzon, only isolated light rains are expected, accompanied by partly cloudy to cloudy skies.

For the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy conditions will prevail, with localized thunderstorms bringing isolated rain showers.

The public is urged to stay vigilant, especially in areas prone to severe thunderstorms, as these could lead to flash floods or landslides.
