MANILA – Rains will affect most parts of the Philippines on Monday due to the presence of three weather systems.

The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring rain to Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region, particularly in Northern Luzon.

The shear line will cause scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Quezon, and Aurora.

Meanwhile, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to the Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.

The State Weather Bureau warned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas could trigger flash floods or landslides.

In addition, isolated light rains from the northeast monsoon are expected in the Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon, while other parts of the country will experience isolated rain showers from the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

Strong winds and rough seas are forecast for Northern and Central Luzon, while moderate to strong winds and rough coastal waters are expected in the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and the Visayas.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail over the rest of the archipelago.

It has also been reported that no tropical cyclone was being monitored for possible formation at this time.
