In a statement, the DOH advised, “Please do not share questionable websites or online sources. Let us not spread misinformation and confusion.”

The warning came in response to circulating social media claims about a “new epidemic” allegedly overwhelming hospitals and crematories in China.

DOH clarified that reliable sources do not support the circulating posts, emphasizing that neither the cited country nor the World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed the claims.

The Philippines, through the DOH, is actively engaged in the WHO Member States’ network, which adheres to the International Health Regulations (IHR), ensuring access to accurate updates on global health issues.

The DOH reassured the public that the country’s disease surveillance systems are in place and functioning.

The Health Department further assured the public that it is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates on any verified information.
