The former mayor of Bamban, Alice Guo, is likely heading to the ‘Golden Triangle’ region in Southeast Asia, according to Winston Casio, spokesperson for the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).

The Golden Triangle, known for its borders with Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand, is infamous for illegal and criminal activities.

In a press briefing on Saturday, Casio revealed that Guo’s family has business or gambling interests in Cambodia, making it a safer destination for the former mayor.

Casio also indicated that the Guo family, part of a major criminal syndicate known as the Fujian Gang, is associated with the Golden Triangle triad.

He admitted that apprehending Guo once she reaches the Golden Triangle will be challenging due to ongoing conflicts in the area.

Currently, Philippine authorities are awaiting the Department of Justice to issue an arrest warrant for Guo.

This will allow coordination with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to issue a red notice.
