BUREAU of Immigration (BI) reported that nearly 190,000 travelers were recorded at the country’s international ports on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado stated that the surge in travelers during December 24 and 25 made these two days the busiest period of the year.

“Our officers are committed to providing seamless services despite the surge in travelers during this peak season,” Viado assured.

According to BI records, there were 52,437 arrivals and 41,895 departures on Christmas Eve, while on Christmas Day, 47,669 arrivals and 44,192 departures were recorded.

Viado also noted that the BI expects passenger traffic to increase further as more people are expected to arrive and depart following the New Year celebrations.

To ease the processing flow during this busy holiday period, Viado advised travelers to arrive early at airports and complete their pre-departure and arrival requirements.
