Christmas Tragedy: Man bringing family feast dies in truck collision

ILOILO CITY – A tragic accident claimed the life of a man after his motorcycle collided with a 10-wheeler truck loaded with sand along the Iloilo Radial By-Pass Road 4 in Barangay Lanit, Jaro, Iloilo City.

Truck driver Ronald Lara, 45, from Passi City, recounted in an interview with Bombo Radyo that he was en route to Iloilo City’s Lapuz district from San Enrique, heading for a Roll-on/Roll-off vessel bound for Guimaras Island.

According to Lara, the victim, who was riding a motorcycle, lost control while speeding on a curve, causing him to crash into the front of the truck. The collision flung the victim approximately 30 meters, resulting in fatal head injuries.

The accident also destroyed the victim’s belongings, including pasta and macaroni intended for his family’s Christmas preparations.

Despite being rushed to a hospital in Iloilo City, the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.
