Typhoon Romina Maintains Strength, Signal No. 1 Remains Over Kalayaan Islands

Typhoon Romina has maintained its strength while located over the waters near Kalayaan Island in Palawan.

According to PAGASA, the center of the typhoon was last observed approximately 40 kilometers north-northwest of La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.

The typhoon is currently packing sustained winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour with gusts reaching 70 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 1 remains in effect for the Kalayaan Islands in Palawan.

Strong waves are expected over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Kalayaan Islands.

PAGASA has advised fisherfolk to avoid venturing out to sea in these areas.

The typhoon may further intensify in the coming hours before gradually weakening by Monday evening.
