Navarro stated that the Laguindigan Police Station has filed three criminal cases against the van driver, who also sustained injuries in the accident.

Initial investigations revealed that excessive speed caused the van’s brakes to fail, leading it to swerve into the opposite lane and collide with the pickup driven by Arnold Ebasan.

The initial fatalities included Bernabe Duque, 68; Reynante Patibig, 42; and Tita Escoro, 61, all from Pagadian City and passengers in the van, while Alvin Lomongo, 55, from the pickup, also died.
