A Pasig court has denied the bail petition of former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo and her co-accused in a qualified trafficking case, citing strong evidence presented by the prosecution during bail hearings.

Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon confirmed the ruling, which stemmed from charges filed under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, as amended.

The case is tied to a June raid on a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Guo’s town, where over 800 individuals, including Filipinos and foreigners, were rescued.

Guo, currently detained at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory, has pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations.

Her lawyer, Atty. Nicole Jamilla, stated that Guo maintains her innocence.

The embattled former mayor is also facing a slew of other legal troubles, including a graft case, a material misrepresentation charge, and a quo warranto petition, alongside tax evasion, money laundering, and falsification complaints.
