The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) reminded drivers and operators of Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) and Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) to honor the 20% fare discount for students, even during holidays and school vacations.

LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III stated that students are entitled to the 20% discount at all times, including weekends, holidays, and school breaks, 24/7 throughout the year.

Guadiz warned drivers and operators of severe penalties for failing to comply, particularly if complaints are filed against them for not granting the mandated discount.

Sanctions include fines, franchise suspension, or even franchise revocation for repeated violations.

The LTFRB also stressed that the same fare discount applies to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs), with violators facing corresponding penalties.

The warning follows reports of some PUV drivers not adhering to the discount policy.

The LTFRB encouraged passengers to report incidents of non-compliance by providing detailed information, including the vehicle’s plate number, time of the incident, and supporting evidence such as receipts or screenshots.

Complaints can be submitted through the LTFRB hotline or official social media pages.
