MANILA, Philippines — Teaching and non-teaching personnel of the Department of Education (DepEd) will begin receiving their ₱20,000 Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) on December 20, according to an announcement made Monday.

DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara described this as the “biggest SRI in DepEd history,” made possible through the swift processing of requirements following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s issuance of Administrative Order No. 27.

The order authorizes the one-time ₱20,000 SRI payment for eligible government employees.

“This marks a significant milestone for DepEd staff, as they will receive the maximum SRI grant for the first time, beginning December 20, 2024,” Angara said in a statement.

Expressing gratitude to President Marcos, Angara highlighted the administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of teachers and personnel, whom he referred to as the backbone of the education sector.

He also thanked Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah Pangandaman for collaborating with DepEd to make the incentive possible.
