Family Seeks Justice After ROTC Cadet Takes His Own Life

The family of an ROTC Corps Commander in Passi City, Iloilo, is seeking justice after the third-year criminology student allegedly took his own life due to hazing-related depression.

The victim, identified as JP Mombay, was a student at Passi City College who reportedly began experiencing severe depression after being appointed Corps Commander.

According to Romel Mombay, the victim’s father, his son confided about being hazed, including being beaten with paddles and assaulted by senior cadets as part of initiation rites.

The victim reportedly sent photos of his bruises to his girlfriend, evidencing the physical abuse he endured.

On discovering the incident, the family was shocked to find JP had hanged himself in his boarding house in Tubod, Passi City.

The family is determined to file charges and hold those responsible for the hazing accountable for their actions.
