WASHINGTON — The administration of President Joe Biden has unveiled a new $500 million or ₱29.1B weapons aid package for Ukraine, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Thursday.

White House spokesperson John Kirby emphasized that the U.S. would continue to provide support to Ukraine “right up to the end of this administration.”

Just 10 days earlier, Washington committed $725 million in additional military aid, including missiles, ammunition, and anti-personnel mines.

The latest package includes ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) and High-speed Anti-Radiation Missiles (HARMs), among other critical supplies, according to Blinken.

With this announcement, approximately $5.6 billion remains available under the Presidential Drawdown Authority, allowing Biden to send weapons directly from U.S. military stockpiles to Ukraine without congressional approval.

The outgoing Biden administration is intensifying efforts to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s invasion before President-elect Donald Trump, a Republican, assumes office in January.

Meanwhile, Russian forces continue to make gains in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region, capturing villages as part of a larger offensive.

At the same time, Moscow’s airstrikes have targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, exacerbating challenges for civilians as winter deepens.
