Army Chief Highlights CAFGU’s Role in Strengthening Territorial Defense

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido emphasized the vital role of CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) units in the Philippines’ shift to territorial defense during a conference and workshop for Division Operations Officers and CAA Affairs Chiefs on December 10, 2024.

Galido highlighted that CAA units, as force multipliers, are integral to territorial defense operations while continuing their traditional role in internal security campaigns in rural areas.

He also recognized the CAAs’ contribution as first responders during disasters and calamities, showcasing their multi-faceted significance to national defense and public safety.

“As part of the joint force, it is our mandate to defend the land from enemy intrusion. We aim to achieve this through preparation and the effective mobilization and sustainment of large-scale forces in prolonged conflicts,” Lt. Gen. Galido said in his address.

The workshop provided a platform for Operations Officers and CAA Affairs Chiefs to align with directives from the General Headquarters and discuss strategies to enhance territorial defense capabilities.

Participants also tackled the operational directives and thrusts for securing the nation, emphasizing the importance of building the Army’s capability to respond to emerging threats.
