PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. declined to comment on the potential transfer of Filipina death row convict Mary Jane Veloso to the Philippines on Tuesday, following a request from the Indonesian government.

“We were asked by the Indonesian government not to make any announcements until everything is settled, so let’s respect that request,” Marcos told reporters.

Earlier, Justice spokesperson Mico Clavano confirmed that Indonesia had expressed its intention to transfer Veloso to the Philippines by Christmas.

The transfer agreement between Indonesia and the Philippines came after a high-level meeting held abroad.

Veloso, who was sentenced to death for drug trafficking after being caught with 2.6 kilos of heroin in Yogyakarta, has maintained her innocence, claiming she was a victim of human trafficking.
