PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has directed the Departments of Budget and Management (DBM) and Education (DepEd) to collaborate on raising the Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) for public school teachers.

The Presidential Communications Office announced Tuesday that the government plans to increase the SRI for around 1,011,800 DepEd personnel from ₱18,000 to ₱20,000.

Marcos instructed both agencies to identify budgetary solutions to implement the hike while adhering to fiscal responsibilities.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara praised the President’s directive, calling it a “morale booster” for educators.

“This initiative highlights our shared commitment to empowering teachers and emphasizing their vital role in shaping the future of Filipino learners,” Angara said.

The SRI, an annual incentive for government employees, recognizes their dedication to delivering quality and responsive public service.
