Starmer called the collapse of Assad’s “brutal regime” a victory for the Syrian people and a move toward a brighter future.

The swift downfall of Assad and subsequent events in Damascus have raised questions about Syria’s future and the rebels’ role in shaping it.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that an aircraft carrying Assad left Syria via Damascus International Airport before army security forces vacated the facility.

The whereabouts of Assad prior to his Moscow arrival had been a mystery, leaving Syrians speculating about their former president’s location.
