The body of Patrolman John Lorenzo Togay-an Jr. is expected to arrive in Buguias, Benguet, on December 9 following his tragic death in Apayao.
Togay-an was one of three police officers who perished after their boat capsized while crossing a river in Calanasan, Apayao, on December 6.
The remains of Patrolman Halterlic Pallat from Apayao and Patrolman Resty Bayog from Kalinga were recovered and transported earlier.
According to Police Lt. Brendon Batoon of the Calanasan Police Station, the officers were conducting a follow-up investigation and serving an arrest warrant.
The eight-man team, part of the 2nd Apayao Provincial Mobile Force Company, encountered strong river currents caused by heavy rains.
Five officers survived the incident, while three succumbed, with Togay-an’s body recovered last in Lower Atok, Flora, Apayao.
Patrolman Pallat’s body was found in Kabugao, Apayao, on December 6, while Patrolman Bayog’s remains were discovered in Barangay Musimut, Kabugao, on December 7.
Apayao Provincial Director Col. Arnold Razote extended condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of necessary assistance.
