BTS still dominates Spotify charts amid military service

Global pop sensation BTS continues to reach remarkable milestones even as its members fulfill their military service obligations.

According to Spotify Wrapped 2024, BTS remains the most-streamed K-pop artist on the platform, a title they have held since 2018. This achievement is particularly notable as the group has not released any new songs as a septet this year.

In October, BTS became the first group in Spotify history to surpass 41 billion streams across all credits, cementing their influence in the global music industry. Their most recent group release, “Take Two,” launched on June 9, 2023, as part of their 10th-anniversary celebration, marked a heartfelt moment for fans. By then, some members had already begun their military service.

Individual members have also made significant waves this year. Jimin’s track “Who” was named the most-streamed K-pop song globally on Spotify in 2024, while Jungkook ranked as the second most-streamed K-pop act, just behind BTS.

Jin, the first member to enlist in December 2022, and J-Hope, who enlisted in April 2023, have already completed their service this year and were warmly welcomed back by fans. The rest of the members—Suga, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—will conclude their service by 2025.

Fans eagerly await BTS’s reunion in 2025, when all seven members are set to return to the music scene and continue their journey as BTS.
