Authorities revealed that the suspect discovered his wife in a “very intimate” situation with the victim.

According to Police Major Hazel Asilo, public information officer of the Southern Police District (SPD), the crime occurred on November 28.

The victim, a Police Executive Master Sergeant, has not been publicly identified.

Asilo confirmed that the victim’s body was found on December 5, buried in the ancestral home of the male suspect in Baguio City.

The suspect, a Police Lieutenant Colonel, has admitted to the crime and has provided a statement to the authorities.

The police are continuing their investigation, with “crime of passion” being one of the possible motives under consideration.

The suspect reportedly told police he caught his wife—also a Police Executive Master Sergeant—engaged in an intimate moment with the victim, which led him to shoot the victim in a fit of rage.

After killing the victim, the suspect allegedly dismembered the body and transported it in a pickup truck to Baguio City, where he buried it.

Before the discovery of the body, the victim had been reported missing.

Asilo noted that several social media posts were searching for the victim, with the victim’s child even visiting Camp Bagong Diwa, the last known location of the victim.

The suspect’s wife is now also considered a suspect and may face conspiracy charges for her alleged role in the crime. Both the suspect and his wife could face murder charges.

Authorities are still gathering evidence, and the pickup truck used to transport the body has been seized.

Asilo stated that they are awaiting a forensic report to confirm the number of gunshot wounds the victim sustained.
