MANILA — Two Filipino nationals lost their lives in a tragic house fire in Al Adan, Kuwait, earlier this week, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed on Friday.

The victims, both women, succumbed to toxic fumes from the blaze that occurred on December 2, the DMW reported.

The Migrant Workers Office (MWO) is currently overseeing legal procedures and arranging for the repatriation of the remains.

In response, the DMW’s regional office, along with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Western Visayas, visited the families of the victims in Capiz, offering them financial assistance.

“The Department of Migrant Workers extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and assures them of its unwavering support,” the agency stated.

While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, reports from one reliable source indicate that six other individuals were rescued from the scene.
