Former Silay City Mayor Carlo Gamban Found Dead in Suspected Suicide

Former Silay City Mayor Carlo Gamban was found dead inside his home on the afternoon of December 2, 2024, in what appears to be a case of suicide.

According to the Silay City Police, Gamban allegedly shot himself in the head inside his bedroom around 3:45 PM.

Police Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca stated that the authorities were alerted after household staff reported hearing a gunshot from the former mayor’s room.

Initial investigation revealed that only two household helpers were in the residence when the incident occurred.

The helpers said they were asked by Gamban to step out of the room shortly before the gunshot was heard.

Police confirmed that Gamban sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was declared dead by a doctor on the scene.

Investigators are working to determine the type of firearm used and the circumstances leading to the incident.

Lt. Col. Darroca added that the helpers will be interviewed further to provide additional details regarding the incident.
