The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has denied the appeals of 21 senatorial aspirants previously declared as nuisance candidates for the May 2025 polls.

Last week, the Comelec issued 18 resolutions rejecting motions for reconsideration (MR) filed by aspirants including Francis Leo Marcos, Felipe Montealto Jr., and Orlando de Guzman.

Other aspirants whose appeals were dismissed include Manuel Andrada, Sonny Pimentel, Elpidio Rosales Jr., and Jaime Balmas, among others.

In addition, the Comelec released three more resolutions rejecting MRs from Oscar Ongjoco, Faith Ugsad, and one unnamed nuisance candidate.

Comelec Chair George Garcia noted that 91 senatorial aspirants filed appeals after the commission earlier ruled that 117 candidates lacked serious intent to run for public office.

Out of 183 individuals who filed certificates of candidacy for senator, only 66 were approved to proceed with their bids.
