VP Sara: ‘The presidency of 2022 was mine already’

Vice President Sara Duterte addressed recent political controversies, asserting that the 2022 presidency was hers before she chose to focus on other priorities.

Her statement was in response to Rep. Jay Khonghun’s claim that the current political discord stems from her alleged premature ambition to be president.

Duterte emphasized that she had already won public support, citing favorable survey results and unity among her supporters for her candidacy.

“I had the presidency of 2022 already,” Duterte said. “I won the surveys, and people were solid and united for my candidacy. But I gave it away because I felt I had to do other things beyond being president.”

Initially, Duterte filed her candidacy for Davao City mayor but later decided to run alongside President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

When asked about Marcos’ disapproval of any move to impeach her noting that impeachment efforts would not benefit Filipinos, Duterte declined to comment

She also refrained from commenting on Marcos’ apparent willingness to reconcile with her amid ongoing political tensions.
