Mother and Infant Died in Tricycle Accident in Cuartero, Capiz

A tragic accident claimed the lives of a mother and her 2-month-old infant in Cuartero, Capiz, after their tricycle was sideswiped by another vehicle.

The incident occurred along the National Highway in Barangay Bitoon, Ilaya, Cuartero, Capiz, involving multiple vehicles.

The tricycle driver, identified as Leomar, 22, was traveling with his live-in partner Ivy, 20, and their infant, Chalea, all residents of Barangay Bitoon, Ilaya.

The vehicle that sideswiped the tricycle was driven by Clyde, 24, from Barangay Salvation Habog-Habog, Molo, Iloilo City.

Another vehicle, driven by Ben, 46, a businessman from Barangay Mongpong, Roxas City, was also involved in the collision.

Initial reports from the Cuartero Municipal Police Station indicate that the tricycle was traveling from Dumarao when it was accidentally sideswiped, causing the passengers to be thrown onto the opposite lane.

The mother and infant sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Dao District Hospital by the Cuartero Emergency Response Unit.

Despite efforts to save them, both victims were declared dead shortly after arrival at the hospital.

The drivers involved are currently in police custody as authorities investigate the incident further.
