ASEAN Armies Forge Bonds Through Mixed-Team Sharpshooting Competition

The 32nd ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM) highlighted regional unity as sharpshooters from ASEAN nations teamed up for friendly competitions at Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac on November 19, 2024.

Under the theme “Strengthening Partnership and Camaraderie towards Regional Stability,” sharpshooters from the Philippines, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, and Brunei paired to form mixed-nationality teams named after Philippine indigenous trees.

Team Narra, composed of the Philippines and Cambodia, excelled in the Rifle, Pistol Men’s, and Pistol Women’s categories.

Team Kamagong, featuring Indonesia and Laos, dominated the Carbine category, while Team Magkuno, composed of Malaysia and Singapore, claimed the Machine Gun championship.

Other teams, including Team Yakal (Myanmar and Vietnam) and Team Lauan (Thailand and Brunei), also delivered strong performances in the “Modified Falling Plates Relay.”

The unique format encouraged cross-cultural collaboration as participants shared strategies, celebrated victories, and exchanged skills.

The event underscored the role of camaraderie and cooperation in fostering peace and stability across Southeast Asia.

The competition concluded with an awarding ceremony recognizing the achievements of the mixed-nationality teams and their display of unity and teamwork.
