NDRRMC: 20 areas are under a state of calamity because of Typhoon Pepito, Ofel, and Nika

FOLLOWING the tropical cyclones Nika, Ofel, and Pepito, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) announced on Tuesday that twenty cities and municipalities in Luzon had proclaimed a state of disaster.

According to NDRRMC’s 8 a.m., 11 locations in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), 8 in the Cagayan Valley, and one in Central Luzon, based on the situational report.

ADDITIONAL IMPACTS

1.8 million individuals nationally were also impacted by Nika, Ofel, and Pepito. Of these, 163,527 were staying elsewhere, while 453,809 were still in evacuation centers.

The three tropical cyclones also reportedly caused injuries to twenty-five individuals.

In addition, the cyclones caused P8.6 million in agricultural loss and P469 million in infrastructure damage.

In five regions, they also completely damaged 1,525 homes along with partially damaged 10,234 homes.

Additionally, 24 bridges and 50 highways are currently impassable.

The storms also caused work to be suspended in 442 towns and municipalities and disrupted classes in 694 cities and municipalities.

According to the NDRRMC, impacted households have received assistance totaling P54 million.

Amid Severe Tropical Storm Pepito, a landslide in Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya, killed seven people, including an 8-year-old child.

At 12 p.m. on Monday, Pepito left the Philippine Area of Responsibility. PAGASA, the state weather bureau stated.
