UNITED States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced on Monday that the US has obtained an additional million dollars to assist Filipinos affected by “six significant storms” that hit the country recently during a courtesy visit to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in MalacaƱang.
The US is also eager to talk about how they could provide additional assistance at this time, extending Washington’s condolences and prayers to “those who have been lacking by these six significant storms that have occurred in a very short time.”
“I have authorized US troops and all the Philippine forces to provide life-saving aid to the Filipino people,” Austin informed Marcos Jr.
“The US has also secured another million dollars in urgent humanitarian aid and that will enhance the work of the USAID and the World Food Programme,” he added.
“That’s in addition to the nearly 100,000 pounds of supplies that we delivered after the typhoon,” he stated.
