Tuguegarao Airport Guard Lauded for Returning Bag with Cash, Jewelry

A Tuguegarao City Airport security guard, Gerard Dumrique from Sto. Niño, Cagayan, has been praised for his honesty.

Dumrique returned a bag left in the airport’s waiting area containing P24,000, jewelry, and important documents.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Dumrique emphasized that being honest is part of his duty and he does not expect any reward.

The bag had been unattended for nearly 30 minutes, prompting Dumrique to ask around for its owner without success.

Netizens praised Dumrique, saying he should serve as a role model for fellow frontliners.

His detachment commander, Mark Egipto, commended Dumrique’s integrity and announced plans to submit an incident report for official recognition.

The bag’s owner, Jenny Cauilan from Barangay Sampaguita, Solana, Cagayan, is a kidney patient from Metro Manila.

Cauilan shared that she had forgotten the bag in her haste to return home.
