Alice Guo Urges DOJ to Dismiss Human Trafficking Complaint Against Her

Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Leal Guo has requested the Department of Justice (DOJ) to dismiss the human trafficking complaint filed against her, arguing that the complainants failed to provide evidence linking her to the crime.

In a counter-affidavit submitted by Guo just days after the complaint was filed with the DOJ on August 6, she stated that the only basis for the complaint against her was an electric bill and documents from BAOFU Land Development, Inc., where she was previously a stockholder.

Guo argued that this was insufficient to prove her involvement in the crimes associated with a raided POGO hub that rented space in the Baofu compound located behind the Bamban Municipal Hall.

Guo further asserted that she had already sold her shares in Baofu to Jack Uy. She stressed that it was unfair to accuse her of being involved in human trafficking merely because she served as the mayor of Bamban. She added that her position should not be used as grounds for baseless allegations, especially when there is no credible evidence to support such claims.

Guo also described the complaint as a politically motivated smear campaign.

It can be recalled that the human trafficking complaint against Guo and others was related to the raided POGO hub in Bamban, where authorities discovered equipment used for torture, human and sex trafficking, kidnapping, and scamming activities.

The operation also led to the rescue of over 800 foreign nationals.
