Mariano Marcos State University Evacuated After Bomb Threat, No Explosives Found

A bomb threat disrupted Mariano Marcos State University in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, causing panic and the immediate evacuation of students and faculty.The threat was sent via Facebook by an account named “Dumper Chlo.”

For safety, all students and teachers were evacuated, and classes were shifted to asynchronous learning, while employees worked from home.

The message claimed 11 suspected bombs were planted around the College of Health Sciences, with seven near the Pharmacy and Nursing Departments and four in the Physical Therapy Department.

The sender insisted the threat was not a joke, alleging corruption by the Marcoses and specifying that the bombs were set to detonate at 1:30 p.m.

Student Dianne Calantoc described the panic among classmates as they were instructed to leave the campus immediately.

Dr. Virgilio Julius Manzano, the Officer In Charge, vowed to tighten security protocols and establish stricter safety measures to prevent similar incidents.

P/Col. Frederick Obar, Provincial Director of the Ilocos Norte Police, later confirmed that joint forces, including the Batac City Police and Special Weapons and Tactics, found no bombs on the university grounds.
