Eight towns in Cagayan and Tuguegarao City are experiencing floods despite clear weather in the area.

Rueli Rapsing, head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), attributed the floods to waters coming down from the mountains of Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino, triggered by Typhoon Nika.

Rapsing added that a flash flood hit Gonzaga town after a water impounding project failed, while waters from the mountains rushed into homes in Baggao.

He also reported separate drowning incidents in Amulung, involving an 18-year-old and a 42-year-old man who went to the river to collect driftwood.

Authorities are conducting retrieval operations for the victims.

Affected areas include Tuguegarao City, Enrile, Solana, Amulung, Alcala, Baggao, Gattaran, Gonzaga, and Allacapan.
