Warnings and Wind Signals

  • TCWS No. 4: The northern portion of mainland Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, and northeastern Apayao are on high alert with storm-force winds expected within 12 hours. Wind speeds may reach 118-184 km/h, posing a significant to severe threat to life and property.
  • TCWS No. 3: The southern portion of Batanes, remaining parts of Cagayan and Apayao, Ilocos Norte, and northern Abra will experience moderate to significant wind impacts with speeds between 89-117 km/h.
  • TCWS No. 2 and 1: Areas in Batanes, parts of Isabela, and other provinces in northern Luzon are likely to experience gale-force to strong winds.

Coastal and Sea Condition Hazards

Mariners and residents along coastal areas are warned of storm surges, with peak surge heights possibly exceeding 3.0 meters, especially in low-lying areas of Batanes, Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union.

The coastal waters around Northern and Central Luzon remain extremely hazardous, with sea conditions projected to be very rough to high, reaching up to 12 meters in some areas.

Track and Outlook

Typhoon Marce is expected to make landfall over Babuyan Islands or northern Cagayan by this afternoon or early morning tomorrow. It will maintain its typhoon strength through the day, although a slight weakening is anticipated due to land interaction with Luzon’s terrain.

Marce is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Friday evening, with northeasterly winds prompting a more southwestward path over the weekend.

Advisory to Residents

Residents under TCWS No. 4 are advised to seek shelter and secure property against potential severe winds.

Coastal communities and mariners are urged to remain vigilant, as travel and sea conditions remain hazardous for all types of vessels.
