67-Year-Old Man Goes on Stabbing Rampage, Leaving Two Dead, Several Injured”

Two individuals were killed on the spot in Barangay San Ignacio, Manay, Davao Oriental, following a stabbing rampage by a 67-year-old man early in the morning.

The victims were identified as Alonzo Narvas, 59, who sustained stab wounds to the chest, jaw, and hands, and Boy Similatan, a fellow senior citizen who was fatally stabbed in the abdomen.

According to police investigations, the suspect, Pedrito Mangopot, had an argument with his wife before leaving their home, targeting neighbors, including close friends.

Among the injured were Luz Artiaga, 53, who was stabbed in her left arm, Jeric Redilla, 20, who sustained injuries on his right arm and left hip, and Gabriel Suerte, who also suffered stab wounds.

Currently, Romeo Balderas remains in critical condition at the Regional Hospital in Tagum City, with doctors closely monitoring his recovery.

Reports reveal that Mangopot had recently been discharged from a hospital for mental health treatment.

Mangopot is now in police custody and faces multiple charges for the incident.
