Over five students were injured after an elf truck they were riding overturned in Macayucayu, San Mariano, Isabela.
The truck, driven by Jojo Casuela, was heading toward San Mariano town proper to deliver sacks of corn for sale.
The vehicle was also carrying more than ten students, all bound for the same destination.
As the truck climbed a steep road, it reportedly lost its brakes, causing it to overturn and trap the students under sacks of corn.
More than five of the students suffered serious injuries, with one losing consciousness due to a severe head injury, while others were unharmed.
Rescuers immediately responded and rushed the injured to the hospital for treatment.
Aside from the brake failure, investigators are also looking into whether the truck was overloaded as a contributing factor to the accident.
The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
