A 13-year-old boy drowns in the Batangas River

A 13-year-old boy drowned in a river in Tuy, Batangas province, on Tuesday, Oct. 29, police reported Wednesday.

According to Region 4A police, the victim, Justine Villas, left their home at 9 a.m. went to Barangay Lumbangan, and proceeded to the river to collect some firewood.

After an hour, when the child did not return, his family members looked for him and discovered him dead, his body immersed in the river.

The victim’s mother told police that her son was epileptic and had most likely suffered a seizure when he fell into the water and drowned.

Police are conducting more investigations.

The victim’s remains will undergo a post-mortem investigation and autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.

For the time being, authorities have classified the situation as a “drowning incident.”
